Another £1,000 to Mountain Rescue |

Glossop Hyde and District Round Table members have again shown their support for local charities by presenting a cheque for £1,000 to the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team. This donation is the second of three annual payments which will cover the entire cost of running the team’s rescue vehicle for its first three years with the team. Like the 40 strong team of unpaid local volunteers, the vehicle is on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The ex-RAF Land Rover ambulance was bought in early 2001 with money raised from local companies and has since been used on many rescues. As well as ferrying team members and rescue equipment as close as possible to the rescue site, the vehicle is also used as a mobile base for coordinating rescues and can also be used to transport a stretcher-bound casualty. As the Round Table chairman Russell Gard , points out “This is a great example of locally raised money going directly to help a very good local cause.”The Glossop Hyde and District Round Table is a very sociable bunch with a very varied social programme ranging from karting and raft racing through to visits to comedy clubs as well as family walks and barbeques.
