Downpour Fails to Dampen Bonfire Success |

The annual Round Table bonfire held in Manor Park last Saturday night was once again a resounding success, despite the weather.More than two and a half thousand people turned out in spite of the gloomy forecast. The rain held off for the lighting of the bonfire and throughout the following spectacular fireworks display, but within minutes of the fireworks finale the Heavens opened with a torrential Glossop downpour.Over £6,000 was taken on the gates. Donations will be made to the Dinting Venture Scouts for the huge effort they put into building the bonfire and to the St Johns Ambulance for their safety cover. The remaining money raised will go to the Glossop flood relief fund. The members of the Glossop Hyde and District Round Table would like to thank all those people who attended the bonfire and helped to raise “local money for local good causes”. |
